"The Great Dictator" (1940) - Friday, August 25 at 7 pm

Join us for The Great Dictator”  (1940) produced, written and directed by, and starring, Charlie Chaplin.  The film, a spoof of fascism and Adolf Hitler, was Chaplin’s only true “talkie”.  He plays dual roles, Adenoid Hynkel, dictator of Tomania, and a kindly Jewish barber.  Nominated for 5 Oscars, including best picture and actor, it can be hilariously funny and poignant, yet deeply troubling.

Please join us in the Celtic Cross Room at 7:00 p.m., where, as usual, fresh popcorn will be available!

Looking ahead ... On Friday, September 29, we are presenting “The Next Voice you Hear…” (1950) starring James Whitmore and Nancy Davis (Reagan), and directed by William Wellman.  This unusual and seldom-seen film depicts how the life of a suburban, working class family is profoundly changed when one day the voice of God begins booming from their radio.
