Now that the renovation and construction project is complete, DPC members face the responsibility of paying down the bank loan that helped to fund the project. This loan is the focus of a second DPC capital campaign, Forward Together! This initiative, which is being organized and run by DPC’s own members who are donating their time and talents, is being undertaken with the understanding that the church has a major opportunity. While the renovations and new construction are fresh in everyone’s minds, Forward Together! organizers are taking the congregation at its word and saying there should be no need for a third capital campaign to cover the loan secured for the recently completed construction. Through the renegotiation of the bank loan at an even more favorable rate than first negotiated, the realization of lower than anticipated construction costs, and a much greater member involvement, the church can — and will — retire the debt in the next five years, much quicker than originally anticipated.

The Session of DPC, at its stated meeting on November 28, 2011, determined that 10% of all un-designated gifts given to the Forward Together! campaign would be set aside for mission. A task force was established to explore possible mission projects, and on February 27, the Session approved the following four efforts:
As a wrap up to the “Bridging the Generations” capital campaign and a benchmark for measuring the “Forward Together” initiative to follow, a DPC based market research study was undertaken in December 2011. The key findings from that survey follow in this report for your review and reflection.
The Forward Together campaign organizers extend a heartfelt thank you to Buz Plesser, his company – Waggle Dance Market Research, Scottsdale, AZ -− and all 386 people who participated in this survey. Their ideas, reactions, energy, and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping to develop and implement a strategy for moving forward with the second capital campaign.
The hope is that all DPC members will now prayerfully consider what this research is telling us and then make a special effort to assure their active participation in the life of Doylestown Presbyterian Church as we move Forward Together.
