We travel to lend a helping hand!
Mission trips allow us to live with and learn from our brothers and sisters in other parts of the country and around the world while sharing their struggles with hunger, poverty, natural disaster. We offer a helping hand, but most importantly, an open heart to all we meet. There are opportunities for everyone to be involved with mission trips at DPC, including participating in a trip, praying for trip particpants and for those whom with they will be working, and helping to provide supplies and support for volunteers.
Want to travel to a new place and help at the same time? See below!
July 21 - 27, 2019
This July, DPC will be venturing to the Jersey shore to participate in Superstorm Sandy relief work through the St. Bernard Project. We will be assisting some of the 1,200 plus families that are still displaced from the 2012 devastating storm. Not only is this a way for us to show our love in action, but it will be a great opportunity for fellowship and work alongside different members of your church family. Adults and youth (age 14 and older with a parent) are welcome to participate on this trip! The deadline to register is June 1.
September 21 - 28, 2019
A work and cultural trip to the Navajo and Zuni reservations in New Mexico is planned for September 21-28, 2019. A brochure and registration form are available in the church office, the library, and on the literature tables. We will work at The Community Pantry in Gallup, NM. Approximate expenses for the trip should be $1,350- $1,450 for single; $1,050 - $1,150 per person for double accommodations. Repeat participants are welcome! This trip provides an opportunity to see DPC's continued commitment to helping Native Americans in the Southwest.
If you are a DPC member and are interested in going on a mission trip but are in need of financial assistance, we encourage you to apply for scholarship funding from the mission committee. The form is available here or in the church office.
